The Design Development Phase After receiving approval for the initial plans, we transition into the design development phase. This comprehensive notebook is left at the job site and includes all essential floor plans, as well as detailed specification sheets for finishes, fixtures, and furnishings. I ensure that all final drawings are shared with you, the general contractor, and any relevant tradespeople. If permits have yet to be obtained, this is the moment they must be secured. Concurrently, I begin collecting accessories to finalize the design once construction concludes. At Design 2morrow Interiors, we compile a detailed list of necessary accessories and finalize purchasing arrangements, collecting a retainer before we buy the items needed to style your home. This is followed by the purchasing and procurement of all merchandise, with my team coordinating deliveries and collaborating with a receiver to ensure everything arrives in pristine condition. Moreover, this phase involves substantial project management tasks. I facilitate a walk-through meeting with the contractor to initiate construction and make periodic site visits to oversee the design execution. Challenges may arise, and I embrace these moments as opportunities to find solutions, adjusting plans and drawings as needed. Finally, I pay meticulous attention to details, verifying the locations of light fixtures, tiles, and flooring. I also coordinate with additional vendors, such as upholsterers, wallpaper installers, or workrooms for window treatments, ensuring every aspect of the design meets your expectations.
